The barque Emigrant

Ship

This model of the barque 'Emigrant' was made by James Hall, a seaman on the 1850 voyage of the vessel. Photo by his descendant, Jim Fenwick.

The Emigrant was a 3-masted barque built in New Brunswick in 1845.
An advertisement in 1850 described her as '753 tons, coppered and copper-fastened...Has full poop, with superior accommodation'. (The Times, London, 19 March 1850, p.1)
The Emigrant was owned by J. S. De Wolf & Co., a Liverpool shipping and merchant firm.
The agent for the 1850 voyage was Carter & Bonus,
No.11 Leadenhall St., London.
The Emigrant was sold to a Portuguese subject at Macao on 25 November, 1853. (Wright, Esther Clark (1976). Saint John ships and their builders. [The Author], Wolfville, N.S, p.76)
